ADU Construction · Oceanside, CA
ADU Builder in Oceanside & North County San Diego
California ADU law has made accessory dwelling units the most practical way to add square footage, house family, or create rental income on a lot you already own. Craft Homes builds detached and attached ADUs across Oceanside and North County San Diego.
An ADU is a complete small residence: foundation, framing, envelope, full kitchen, bath, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and its own utility strategy. It is licensed general building work, and it is built to the same standard as our custom homes.

Scope
What this covers
- Detached new-construction ADUs
- Attached and addition-style ADUs
- Junior ADU (JADU) conversions within the primary residence
- Setback, lot-coverage and utility-capacity feasibility review
- Permit coordination with city and county planning departments
- Built under the same license and bond as our custom home work
Start with feasibility, not a floor plan
Most ADU projects fail on the parcel, not the design: setbacks, lot coverage, height limits, fire access, and whether the existing electrical service and sewer lateral can carry a second dwelling.
Craft Homes reviews those constraints first so the plan you pay to draw is a plan that can actually be permitted and built.
ADUs as rental and multi-generational housing
North County owners build ADUs for two reasons: long-term rental income, and housing family without giving up independence. Both change how the unit should be laid out — separate entry and parking, sound separation, and utility metering are decisions worth making before framing, not after.

Questions
Common questions
- Can you handle ADU permitting?
- Craft Homes coordinates the permit process with the governing jurisdiction as part of the project. Application fees, school fees and utility connection fees are paid by the owner and are called out separately in the proposal.
- How is an ADU different from a room addition?
- An ADU is an independent dwelling with its own kitchen, bath and entry, permitted under California ADU rules. An addition extends the primary residence. The permitting path, the utility work and the cost structure are different.
